Introduction to UV
A core component of 3D Digital Design is being able to have textures display well on 3D objects. UV's describe the XY coordinates of 2D images as they apply to 3D surfaces. Learning the production workflows and setting-up an optimal layout is a critical part of the design process in 3D computer graphics. The tools for this process are evolving.
- Apply a “primitive” UV mapping
- UV manipulator tool in Maya
- 2.Select, Cut, Move & Sew
- 3.Smooth & Relax UV (unwrap)
- 4.Package into 0-1 space
- Double check spacing between shells
- 5.(optional) reference texture paint
- 6.Duplicate, uprez, & transfer maps
- 7.UV snapshot to Photoshop
